Current and future trends in IBD Therapeutic Drug Monitoring
The management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is continuing to evolve at pace, and has taken centre stage for many recent studies including the extension of the Personalised Anti-TNF therapy in Crohn's disease (PANTS). There are lots of drivers for change, but with that brings about lots of questions. In our latest webinar Rachel Nice (Section Lead for R&D/Specialist Services at Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Trust and NIHR Clinical Research Fellow) and Rebecca Smith (Gastroenterology Specialist Registrar at Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Trust and IBD Research Fellow at University of Exeter) will tackle some of those burning questions including:
- How will the rise in small molecules impact our reliance on Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM)?
- Where is our current understanding of TDM and immunogenicity with the use of subcutaneous infliximab?
- How do we use TDM most effectively in the setting of escalated dosing?

We need to talk about gloves...
We need to talk about gloves...gloves are a vital part of personal protective equipment. But too often, they are used too frequently and for too long. And we have come to rely on gloves as a 'second skin', especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The overuse of gloves has several important consequences, including the increased risk of transmission, environmental impacts, increased cost, and a reduction in skin health for staff. This presentation will provide an overview on when we should use gloves (and when we shouldn't!), how we should select the most appropriate glove to use for the risks associated with the task at hand, a consideration of the origin and supply chain for our gloves, and a practical example of a campaign to reduce glove usage.

Improving Cyber Security by Extending NHS Medical Engineering Practices
Healthcare environments have become the prime target for cybercriminals due to underfunding, lack of expertise and lagging cybersecurity practices. Beginning with WannaCry’s impact on NHS Trusts in 2017 to the hundreds of global ransomware attacks annually, it is clear that cyber criminals have found highly vulnerable, and profitable, targets.
One positive byproduct of these attacks is increased investigation into their root causes, impacts on patient care, resulting financial losses and a variety of other topics. Join the Cynerio and e-Quip teams as they discuss methods used by leading Medical Engineering teams to improve cybersecurity in NHS Trusts.
Throughout the discussion team members will present solutions to the cybersecurity challenges, examples of successful protection efforts, and clear next steps that all healthcare organizations should consider.

Reducing the risk of surgical site infections - the role of antimicrobial incise drapes
Surgical site infections (SSI’s) are a common complication that burdens the healthcare system, hospitals and patients. These infections can lengthen a patient’s stay, increase costs, and even be fatal. However, around 60% of SSI’s are estimated to be preventable with the use of evidence-based measures.1-3 In this webinar Dr Jon Otter (Dr Jon Otter, Consultant Clinical Scientist at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust & Honorary Senior Lecturer in HCAI and AMR at Imperial College London) will discuss the importance of an effective SSI prevention care bundle, the role of an antimicrobial incise drape and the clinical evidence and guidelines to support clinical implementation.
