Detecting the different stages of the clotting process

Thromboelastometry is a viscoelastometric method for haemostasis testing using citrated fresh whole blood. Rotational thromboelastometry is known to simplify and accelerate the management of acute and massive bleeding situations.

With a set of dedicated assays, TEM is able to detect hypofunctional and hyperfunctional stages of the clotting process. The assays are able to discriminate between surgical bleeding and haemostasis disorders, hyperfibrinolysis, the extent of dilutional coagulopathy, requirement for administering coagulation factors or factor concentrates, anti-fibrinolytic drugs or platelet substitution and allow heparin and protamin dosage monitoring, helping to improve patient outcome following trauma, transplantation or heart surgery. TEM has shown that it can lower the usage of blood products and the general cost of patient treatment. ROTEM delta is an integrated all-in-one system from the company designed for point of care use with multi-language software and manuals. It can offer easy operation and safe handling; the simultaneous use of four assays for a differential diagnosis of coagulopathies; single use reagents, with fast and accurate patient results for quick therapy decisions; mobility with the optional trolley; and HIS/LIS connectivity for quick data transfer
