Easy-to-clean bedside furniture

There are over 1,500 product lines and 100 ranges of medical furniture and equipment available from BRISTOL MAID.

Its most recent development comes as a result of “Design Bugs Out” an initiative where the Department of Health, the NHS Purchasing & Supply Agency and the Design Council challenged the UK’s design and manufacturing community to design and prototype new hospital furniture and equipment to help reduce healthcare associated infections (HCAIs). This led to the development of a polymer bedside cabinet with matching overbed table, the eClean suite of bedside furniture. Both products have designed out hard-to-clean areas. The use of continuous moulded forms, smooth surfaces with no joints, junctions or sharp corners to harbour germs has resulted in less time being required to clean, cleaning being made easier and therefore more likely to take place, benefits which should assist in reducing the risk of healthcare associated infections.
