Acute and chronic wound treatment

The New Kendall AMD antimicrobial adhesive dressings from COVIDIEN are said to offer three solutions with one dressing, as it is designed to manage bacteria, moisture and friction.

New Kendall AMD antimicrobial foam border dressings provide a balanced environment to help promote wound healing. A low friction, high Moisture Vapour Transmission Rate (MVTR) topsheet provides a waterproof microbial barrier designed to allow movement without transferring force to the periwound tissue. The microstructured open-cell foam is also impregnated with 0.5% PHMB to provide maximum fluid absorbency while killing bacteria without resistance. The patented “landing zone” is said to facilitate absorption, minimize periwound maceration, and prevent dead space by swelling directionally into the wound. The stand will include samples of the AMD antimicrobial foam border dressings.
