Multi-access port closed suction system

Targeting the risk factors connected with Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP) in mechanically ventilated patients, KIMBERLYCLARK HEALTH CARE has launched the new KimVent multi-access port closed suction system.

Based on the company’s Trach Care technology, the system features a compact rotating manifold with multi-access ports, to allow clinicians to perform suctioning and other procedures, such as bronchoalveolar lavage, bronchoscopy or MDI drug delivery, while maintaining a closed ventilator circuit which helps to reduce the risk of crosscontamination. A closed circuit maintains ventilation and oxygen therapy throughout suctioning and prevents approximately 50% of the lung volume fall observed when suctioning after disconnection from the ventilator. The system also contains an isolated and vacuum-sealed turbulent cleaning chamber which is said to result in an 89% cleaner catheter tip compared to a standard closed suction system.
