Non-invasive breath analysis for detection of GI disorders

BEDFONT SCIENTIFIC manufacture and supply the Gastro+ hydrogen breath monitor (HBT) – a non-invasive, sensitive and specific means of detecting gastrointestinal problems.

HBT is used to measure the amount of hydrogen in a patients’ breath which can be an indicator of lactose intolerance, fructose intolerance, Sorbitol intolerance and bacterial overgrowth, among other things. The lightweight, hand-held monitor features a colour touch screen. It can be used with either a mouthpiece or facemask sampling system, enabling breath samples to be taken from patients of all ages. The GastroCHART Patient Database is included with every Gastro+, allowing health care professionals to save up to 10 patients details on the monitor for satellite breath tests. If connected to a PC, readings can be immediately downloaded to an unlimited patient database. Results can then be printed for the patient to retain and record in their medical history. Bedfont will also be previewing its new monitors for methane and Helicobacter pylori infection set which are due to be launched later in the year.
