It has been announced that Earl Howe, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Quality, will the closing keynote speaker at this year’s NICE Annual Conference that takes place on 10-11 May 2011 at the ICC in Birmingham.
Earl Howe joins a programme of expert speakers from healthcare, public health, social care and industry, who will be addressing all the key issues facing a rapidly changing NHS. The conference will feature eight conference streams, over 60 speakers and more than 800 delegates. Streamed sessions include a focus on NICE’s new quality standards and their role in the new health landscape; the future vision for patient-centred care; making GP consortia work; how NHS Evidence can help you deliver evidence-based practice; and an insight into what Value Based Pricing will mean for the pharmaceutical industry and the NHS. Other confirmed speakers include Professor Sir Bruce Keogh, NHS Medical Director; Professor Sir Michael Marmot, UCL; Clare Gerada, chair, Royal College of General Practitioners; Cynthia Bower, chief executive, Care Quality Commission; and Patrick Vallance, senior vice president, Medicines Development and Discovery, GlaxoSmithKline.
