Safeguarding sterilisation

Featuring enhanced electronics and new software to accommodate changes in computer operating systems, the Electronic Test System (ETS) from 3M offers reassurance to healthcare providers seeking to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs).

The ETS was originally developed as an alternative to the traditional Bowie and Dick (B&D) test packs. The electronic stand-alone device for statutory daily air removal and steam penetration tests provides clear and unambiguous “pass” or “fail” results – together with an early warning of residual air, and an indication of time and temperature. The ETS provides unequivocal results that provide comprehensive, objective and independent information about the critical variables of the steam sterilisation process. Fulfilling the function of 400 traditional Bowie and Dick packs, the ETS cuts down on the administrative processes involved in regular re-ordering. It is also environmentally-responsible, with low shipping costs and end-of-life recycling, and provides diagnostic functions that enable planned maintenance, eliminating costly and disruptive downtime.
