Healthcare excellence and innovation was recently recognised at the Medilink UK Awards 2009. Sponsored by Xiros, the Medilink UK annual awards celebrate cutting edge technologies, outstanding business achievements, international success and collaboration.
Among the winners was Inditherm Medical, which was recognised for “outstanding performance in international trade”. Over the last year, the company (which specialises in designing and manufacturing heating and warming products for use in operating theatres, recovery rooms, A&E departments and delivery suites) has increased its export sales by 338%; 80% of which has been generated by accessing new markets. Binding Site, which developed Freelite, an immunoassay used for the diagnosis and monitoring of multiple myeloma cancer cells found in bone marrow, also won the innovation award. The device has made such an impact on the healthcare world that national and international guidelines on the treatment of multiple myeloma now include Freelite results as a requirement for monitoring the treatment of patients.
