Antimicrobial foam dressing

COVIDIEN offers an alternative to silver dressings for those who wish to try something new.

Kendall AMD antimicrobial foam dressings have been developed to support the management of both moisture and bacterial balance – by providing a moist, bactericidal environment and absorbing wound fluid. The open cell polyurethane foam dressing is impregnated with 0.5% Polyhexamethylene Biguanide (PHMB), a highly effective, low toxicity antiseptic. Kendall AMD antimicrobial foam dressings are effective against gram positive and gram negative bacteria including MRSA, VRE, Pseudomonas and Acinetobacter Baumannii, as well as fungi and yeast. The PHMB binds to the foam material and kills bacteria on contact. It is also safe, effective for up to 7 days, and has no known resistance.
