Prion proteins successfully removed

DR WEIGERT will be attending this year’s IDSc conference for a third time, but DR WEIGERT UK LTD, a new subsidiary company, will be exhibiting for the first time. Dr Weigert is a well-established manufacturer, producing a range of specialised detergents and disinfectants sold under the trade name of neodisher. Based in Hamburg, it supplies hospitals and clinics throughout Europe through subsidiary companies and specialist distributors.

In the UK, Dr Weigert UK Ltd works with distributors such as Dawmed, SIC, Vernon Carus and Medicell. It is keen to build on this platform and look for additional distributors operating in specialised areas. This year, Markus Kamer from the company’s applications department will deliver a presentation during the conference on the automatic reprocessing of endoscopes. Still very topical in the UK is the possible spread of prion proteins that contain vCJD on surgical instruments. Neodisher SeptoClean has proved to be very successful at removing and inactivating prion proteins and independent tests have been carried out by the Robert Koch Institute and SMP GmbH. A copy of this report is available to potential customers.

Offering optimal cleaning without laborious pre-treatments neodisher SeptoClean is microbiocidal, bactericidal, mycobactericidal, fungicidal and virucidal, and offers proven prion protein removal and inactivation.
