Tackling prion proteins

DR. WEIGERT is a well known and established manufacturer of specialised detergents and disinfectants sold under the trade name of Neodisher. Based in Hamburg, the company supplies hospitals and clinics throughout Europe. In the UK, the company supplies its products through a subsidiary company, Dr. Weigert UK Ltd, and an expanding network of specialist distributors

The company encourages further dialogue with existing and potential Neodisher customers, but will also invite potential new distributors to the stand to learn about its extensive portfolio of products for reprocessing surgical instruments, flexible and rigid endoscopes and all other medical devices.

One area that is very topical in the UK is the possible spread of prion proteins that contain vCJD on surgical instruments. The company has identified and developed a new detergent technology called Neodisher SeptoClean that has proved to be very successful at removing and also inactivating prion proteins. It has undertaken extensive testing at its head quarters and independent tests have been carried out by the Robert Koch Institute. There are also further independent test results from SMP GmbH.

Neodisher SeptoClean offers optimal cleaning without laborious pretreatment. It is microbiocidal, bactericidal, mycobactericidal, fungicidal and virucidal, as well as offering proven prion protein removal and inactivation.
