Next generation of UV-C disinfection Technology

SteriPro UV-C Disinfection Technology, from CARDIAC SERVICES, kills coronavirus and 99% of all pathogens and can be used in operating rooms, hospital rooms, hallways and ambulances.

Ultraviolet light in the germicidal wavelength – at around 254nm – renders the organisms sterile. Wavelengths in the UV-C range are particularly damaging to cells because they are absorbed by proteins, RNA and DNA. Mercury vapour lamps radiate about 95 % of their energy at a wavelength of 253.7 nm, which is coincidentally so close to the DNA absorption peak (260-265nm) that it has a high germicidal effectiveness.

Benefits include: a 10-20 min disinfection cycle; over 30% reduction in HCAIs; remote operation via tablet and smart app; real-time reports to re-assure staff that room has been thoroughly disinfected and automatic detection of correct disinfection time, depending on the room size. The system is also designed to automatically shut down if the sensors detect movement in the room.

Quick response to storage needs on COVID wards

A huge number of consumables were required to meet the needs of the influx of patients into the intensive care units at London hospital Trusts during the first peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

MEDSTOR was brought in at very short notice to provide HTM 71 high-density storage cabinets for the storerooms serving the critical care and high dependency units at the Royal London Hospital.

Medstor responded quickly and effectively to ensure that the hospital had the storage it needed and helped to establish the largest critical care facility in London. As a few COVID-19 patients had already been admitted to one of the new wards when the fit-out started, Medstor installers had to wear full PPE and follow strict entry and exit rules, in line with government and hospital guidelines

Popular in hospitals throughout the UK and overseas, Medstor HTM 71 highdensity cabinets provide storage space for a wide variety of essential items. They feature Medstor’s tray and liner system, making it easy to access products and monitor stock levels.
