Vernon-Carus on track for Mersey project

Following a detailed and comprehensive local procurement process under the National Decontamination Program, Vernon-Carus has been made the provisional preferred bidder for the Mersey joint venture decontamination project.

The company will provide decontamination services to the Cardiothoracic Centre Liverpool NHS Trust, Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology NHS Trust, Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, The Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery NHS Trust, Wirral University Teaching Hospital Trust, Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust.

The 15 year contract, with projected revenues of over £110m will be serviced from the
company’s supercentre based in Chorley North West England and a new
unit to be built on the Wirral Peninsula. Vernon-Carus invested £10m in the construction
of the Chorley site and claims to have been the first fully accredited decontamination centre in England. The company has been servicing hospitals throughout the north of England since April 2006.
