As the population ages, and the number of cancer diagnoses increases, the incidence of cardiovascular side effects from treatment also rises. To address this growing challenge, ESC Cardio-Oncology 2025, a new conference focused on this vital area, will take place in Florence, Italy, on 20 and 21 June 2025.
Organised by the ESC Council of Cardio-Oncology , the conference aims to foster collaboration among specialists from related disciplines, share current best practices and shape future approaches.
“We could soon be facing a cardio-oncology epidemic,” warns Dr Alexander Lyon, the conference co-chair. “This is driven by the growing population of cancer survivors, the ageing demographic requiring long-term cancer therapy, and the high incidence of treatment-related heart disease.”
“This conference brings together cardiologists, oncologists, hematologists, and other experts to improve care for patients at risk of cardiotoxicity from cancer treatment. Collaboration across specialties is key to achieving better outcomes”, adds Dr Teresa López-Fernandez, the co-chair of the event.
ESC Cardio-Oncology 2025 will feature an interactive programme, including case-based sessions, practical ‘how-to’ workshops, and the latest scientific updates. A strong focus will be placed on multidisciplinary collaboration.
Programme highlights include:
Advances in oncology - Joint session with the European Society For Medical Oncology (ESMO)
Where cardiologists and haematologists meet - Joint session with the European Haematology Association (EHA)
