Bioquell – one of the leading global experts in reducing the risk of bio-contamination in the healthcare industry – will be highlighting its range of bespoke solutions for eliminating healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). The Bioquell BQ-50 is a portable, easy to use bio-decontamination system utilising the company’s proven 35% hydrogen peroxide vapour technology.  Bioquell’s Proactive service provides a full time, on-site technician to perform daily bio-decontamination with hydrogen peroxide vapour or to ensure a swift response to unplanned emergency scenarios. With infection control priorities shifting at any time, Bioquell’s 24/7 Rapid Bio-decontamination Service (RBDS) will react quickly to eliminate pathogens and stop escalated incidents for any size area.

To avoid any unexpected incident or limit the impact of an outbreak, infection control measures must be implemented, including bio-decontamination of facilities.  The Bioquell BQ-50 system is designed to protect patients, staff and the wider community by creating a fully decontaminated environment anywhere in the hospital.  Ideal for rooms from 5m3 up to 200m3, the BQ-50 assists in the global fight against antibiotic resistance and HAIs.

Utilising Bioquell’s 35% hydrogen peroxide vapour technology, it eliminates pathogens from every exposed service with proven efficacy against bacteria, viruses and spores.

Unlike other automated bio-decontamination systems, the BQ-5O ensures every exposed surface is treated in a single cycle, with no area left untouched. It can be used prior to admitting immune-compromised patients or in rooms previously occupied by a person subject to contact precautions.

Comprising a control panel, vapouriser and three aeration units, the BQ-50 incorporates direct cycle control (DDC) for bio-decontamination of large spaces while chemical indicators (CI) enable real time verification of the process. The BQ-50 is exceptionally easy to use; operators simply prepare the room for bio-decontamination, enter the room volume and press start.

Bioquell’s BQ-50 is suitable for a variety of situations in nearly every area of the hospital facility. Typical applications include containment of escalated incidents, infection prevention in critical care areas like CCU, ICU or Burns units, protection of immune compromised patients and reduction of surgical site infections (SSIs) in operating theatres. Plus it can help maintain hospital pharmacy environmental levels, decontaminate sensitive electronics and facilitate emergency response preparedness.

Bioquell Proactive allows hospitals to implement a focused bio-decontamination plan centred on infection control. This could be to reduce infection rates of a specific pathogen like C.diff, routine bio-decontamination of critical areas, or to reduce the environmental contamination on a hospital-wide basis. A Bioquell technician is based at the hospital to perform daily bio-decontamination in accordance with infection control strategy.

As part of its Proactive service, Bioquell works with hospitals to develop a contingency for unplanned escalated incidents or emergency containment scenarios. Bioquell Proactive includes staffing, equipment needs and maintenance, consumables, reporting and technology upgrades.

Available on a 24/7 basis, Bioquell RBDS reacts quickly to eliminate pathogens, stop escalated incidents and handle emergency response situations. Full bio-decontamination in a short timeframe with enhanced equipment capacity and skilled operators will help ensure the facility is operational as soon as possible.
