London NHS Trusts rated excellent

Three London NHS Trusts have been named among the best in England after being rated as “excellent” by watchdogs. The Healthcare Commission said they were among the 19 top Trusts on quality of services and use of resources.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust were all praised.

Heather Lawrence, Chief Executive of the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said: “The Healthcare Commission’s rating demonstrates the tangible improvements in the quality of care for patients that we have been able to deliver over the last 12 months.”

The Trust said that healthcare associated infection rates have been reduced by 50% in the last two years and the hospital is in the top five NHS Trusts nationally for reduced mortality rates.
