Over 150 innovative UK companies, renowned clinicians and world leading hospitals and clinics headed to Dubai in January to take part in the 44th edition of Arab Health Exhibition & Congress. The Clinical Services Journal attended the global exhibition to see first-hand how UK developed technologies were improving the lives of patients globally.
Over four days, the Dubai World Trade Centre played host to the largest gathering of healthcare companies in the Middle East. Taking place from 28 – 31 January 2019, Arab Health 2019 attracted more than 84,500 healthcare and trade professionals from 160 countries and featured 4150 exhibiting companies from around the world. In 2018, over $778 million worth of business was generated by exhibitors during the exhibition, which highlights the sheer scale of how Arab Health has developed over the last four decades.
Ross Williams, Exhibition Director at Arab Health, said: “With healthcare spend in the GCC expected to reach $104.6 billion by 2022 and growing private sector participation expected to boost long-term growth of the regional healthcare industry, Arab Health provides an important platform for the MENA healthcare industry to build relationships with international stakeholders and facilitates the exploration of new business opportunities in the global healthcare field.”
For 44 years, Arab Health has brought the latest innovations in healthcare from around the world. From state-of-the-art imaging equipment to the most cost-effective disposables, and to developments in surgery and advances in prosthetics, it has become an essential part of the yearly healthcare trade show calendar for UK companies. The show is an opportunity for international purchasers to get ahead of the upcoming year’s product needs and to secure the best deals, while dealers and distributors coming to Arab Health look to expand their product portfolios or supply the next ‘big product’ to their country. As well as a host of global health technology companies, more than 36 hospitals, clinics and other healthcare facilities attended, from both the public and private sectors, showcasing their expertise and latest offerings. The exhibition also welcomed 4,500 delegate clinicians who benefited from the 11 business and Continuing Medical Education (CME) conferences at the Arab Health Congress across disciplines such as public health, orthopaedics, anaesthesia, emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology to name a few.
