The BSG Annual meeting 2018 will take place at the Liverpool ACC from 5-8 June 2018. Building on the successes of previous years, the event will showcase the best of British gastroenterology, hepatology and endoscopy, with hundreds of abstracts being presented orally or as posters. With 49 different symposia, the meeting will cover all aspects of GI and liver care.
The British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) is an organisation focused on the promotion of gastroenterology within the UK. It has more than 3000 members drawn from the ranks of physicians, surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, scientists, nurses, dietitians, and others interested in the field. Founded in 1937 it has grown from a club to be a major force in British medicine, with representation within the British Royal Colleges and consequently the Department of Health and Government. A registered charity, internationally it is represented at World and European level.
At the BSG’s annual scientific meeting, hundreds of original papers are presented to audiences of over 2000 professionals. It is also intimately involved in all aspects of training of British gastroenterology and to original research in the field. Research is supported indirectly through promotion of high standards and offering platforms for scientific presentation and publication, and directly through substantial financial contributions to the Society’s affiliated charity, Core (formerly the Digestive Disorders Foundation).
Dr Nick Thompson, senior secretary, British Society of Gastroenterology believes this year’s conference will build on the success of previous years. “At our 2017 conference 98% of delegates felt the programme was good or excellent and 85% thought the meeting was good value for money,” said Dr Thompson.
