Hospitals improve diagnosis with Siemens technology

North Manchester General Hospital, part of the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, has introduced an Axiom Artis dTA from Siemens Medical Solutions.

The decision to install the flat detector angiographic system was based on its image quality, reduced radiation dose and enhanced workflow capabilities. In particular, the system’s syngo DynaCT function was a key factor in its choice, since it brings CT-like 3D images with soft tissue visualisation into the angiography laboratory. This will improve diagnosis and enhance clinical services, in abdominal interventional examinations – such as chemoembolisation and RF ablation, for example.

Siemens technology has also been introduced at the Western General Hospital, which provides services to the Edinburgh and Lothian communities. The hospital has installed an Axiom Artis dMP multifunctional X-ray system for both angiography and fluoroscopy – enabling interventional procedures to be carried out within the X-ray department. This reduces time in the

theatre and brings cost savings. By installing the first flat plate multi-purpose room in Scotland, Western General Hospital will benefit from improved patient care through intelligent dose reduction, faster examination times and superior workflow. Equipped with flat detector technology, the system enables both diagnostic and interventional radiology.

In addition, its flexible positioning gives easy patient access with full anatomical coverage.
