Clinical excellence training centre opens

Healthcare sector supplier 3M has opened a new training centre in Loughborough.

The Centre for Clinical Excellence, which is equipped to the most modern operating theatre and plaster room specifications, was officially opened by Loughborough MP Andy Reed. 3M Health Care technical specialists in product and procedure innovations are on site to offer dedicated training and education to healthcare professionals, primarily in infection prevention and fracture/soft tissue injury management.

The company’s Rosalind Smith said: “The centre replicates the operating theatre as closely as possible, complete with theatre table and scrub sinks, to provide authentic surroundings to demonstrate the use of 3M drapes and gowns and other infection control products. Volunteer members of staff will act as patients.

“The casting room format will be used for training in modern closed functional fracture management programmes. The new facility forms an integral part of 3M’s commitment to supporting clinical practice within the NHS and we are sure will provide great benefit to our customers.”

The centre will also be used for internal training for 3M sales, marketing and technical staff.
