Commenting on the launch of a completely new range of surgical gloves, Jonathan Day, LEANVATION managing director, said: “The surgical glove category has been ripe for change for a number of years.
Recent consolidation in the healthcare industry has seen previous levels of focus dedicated towards surgical gloves become diluted. At the same time, product ranges offered by leading brands, in terms of material choice and suitability for specific surgical procedures, remain too broad and largely confusing. We believe in a different approach.”
By designing its surgical gloves to use the latest synthetic material technology from the outset, rather than converting existing latex products to non-latex variants, the company believes it has overcome many of the problems typically faced by clinical and procurement professionals. This includes the ability to service the majority of surgical procedures with a three-product range, making selection far simpler, while offering the potential to reduce costs.
“Every Leanvation surgical glove has been surface engineered for easy double-donning while leveraging the benefits of synthetic polyisoprene. This is said to offer improvements in softness compared with comparable latex gloves, meaning that the gloves can be worn in combination with ease, without impacting fit, feel and tactile sensitivity. Using synthetic polyisoprene also means every Leanvation glove is free of potentially harmful allergenic protein associated with latex. This removes the need to carry both latex and latex-free gloving variants.”
The comfort benefits do not come at the expense of performance and protection, says the company. Levels of strength associated with conventional latex gloves are enjoyed across the range, while quality attributes, including 100% inspection and AQL 0.65 also feature.
