Safe disposal of sharps

Leading healthcare services provider SRCL is promoting the safe and sustainable disposal of sharps waste via the company’s Sharps Management Service.

The managed service by SRCL features state-of-the-art robotics, an independently validated disinfection process featuring an automated wash line and reusable containers with up to 600 uses each. As part of SRCL’s managed service, trained staff from the company deliver, locate, collect and exchange sharps containers from customer premises, thus reducing the need for healthcare staff to handle the containers and put themselves at a risk of a needlestick injury. Also known as Bio Systems, the reusable containers with sharps waste are then taken to a treatment facility where they are opened, emptied and disinfected using an automated wash-line that is operated with robotics’ technology. Finally, the containers are meticulously inspected before they are returned to customers in a ready-to-use condition.
