MEDICA 2012 has seen a continued increase in top decision-makers attending the event. The event organisers reported that 93% of the 130,600 trade visitors had decision-making responsibility.
Markets for medical technology and medicinal products are undergoing changes on a global scale and suppliers are using the event to demonstrate how they can provide the answers, with high-quality, yet economical medical solutions. Due to the cost pressures being exerted on most of the state-financed healthcare systems around the world, users are also asking for robust, affordable products and systems with the widest possible spectrum of uses – for example, in medical imaging systems. To meet these demands, imaging system vendors have started to equip many medium-priced equipment offerings with more advanced technologies and ultrasound probes, which were previously only available with top of the range devices. Health IT is also playing an increasingly important role. There is rising demand for compact solutions for better networking between healthcare stakeholders, data transfer among physicians, and between physician and patient. Tablet PCs or smartphones are increasingly being used and there are more medical ‘Apps’ becoming available. The next event, MEDICA 2013, takes place 20-23 November, Düsseldorf, Germany.
