Innovation assisting staff during the manual clean of endoscopes

Staff and the endoscopy unit’s budget could benefit from an innovative product introduced by Serchem.

Seeking to address the potential for ‘repetitive strain’ issues raised by an increasing number of endoscopy decontamination unit staff - incurred while undertaking the syringe process of the manual wash during the primary clean of flexible endoscopes - Serchem’s new solution also has the potential to deliver impressive results with a very favourable financial incentive for endoscopy departments.

Best known as a UK-based producer of cost-effective chemistries for both endoscopy and sterile services, Serchem has also supplied many departments with safe and keenly-priced, automated detergent dispensing systems for the endoscope manual wash processes.

Available ‘free on loan’ to customers wishing to use the Serchem detergent range, the company’s newly introduced Scopetech not only removes the need for manual syringing, but also incorporates a number of important features that can improve the standard of the wash

Supplied and installed by Serchem, the easy to use, automated process boasts a number of key, in-built features. There is a detergent pump to deliver accurate dispensing, using flow meter technology. A temperature monitor ensures the optimum product temperature is achieved during the wash process. The unit also includes a leak tester, adjustable to suit individual scopes, and a flush pump to ensure that thorough and effective first-stage decontamination is conducted. To eliminate the risk of cross contamination, the unit also features a cleanse cycle.

Ensuring a thorough first-stage clean also reduces the potential for subsequent failures of the AER saving many thousands of pounds spent on chemistries in failed cycles.

“The Serchem detergent range is supplied at a very competitive price and delivered to site free of charge.
