Antimicrobial copper solutions

Initial results from a multi-site, Department of Defense-funded clinical trial in the US, have demonstrated that the use of antimicrobial copper surfaces in intensive care unit rooms resulted in a greater than 40% reduction in the risk of acquiring a hospital infection.

More information on this and other trials reporting from around the world will be available on the ANTIMICROBIAL COPPER stand. Antimicrobial Copper is the name uniting a global network of non-profit organisations advising on the use of antimicrobial copper touch surfaces – door furniture, grab rails, taps, ward and medical equipment – in clinical environments to reduce contamination and the risk of infection. Staff will be on hand to discuss the practicalities of installing antimicrobial copper items as well as the supporting science, and a range of products currently on the market will be displayed. Case studies of existing installations in the UK and abroad will also be available.
