COMPANY INFORMATION
Cairn Technology has a 25-year history of supplying cutting-edge products and services to NHS and private hospitals.
Our range of medical products and services are centred around health, safety and operational excellence in operating theatres and the wider hospital environment.
Our product offering includes high quality reusable surgical instruments handmade by Swedish manufacturer, Stille, that come with a 30-year warranty. We also supply superabsorbent and anti-skid floor mats to operating theatres, scrub rooms, and procedure rooms across the country, as well as sterile mats for use next to the patient’s skin.
In addition, we supply spill kits designed for chemical, cytotoxic and biohazardous spills, and we provide training in handling these spills.
We also supply air purifiers to optimise air quality in hospital receptions, wards and waiting areas.
On the services side of the business, we carry out specialist air quality and workplace exposure monitoring tailored to the needs of operating theatres, anaesthetic rooms, endoscopy departments and more.
As a business, we are committed to supplying products that minimise the impact on a hospital’s carbon footprint. Our yearly Carbon Reduction Plan highlights the ways we are minimising our carbon emissions to support hospitals in their journey towards Net Zero.
Stille Micro Instruments
Our extensive range of Stille micro instruments includes micro scissors, micro forceps and micro needle holders for cardiothoracic, plastic, reconstructive and ENT surgery. Available in stainless steel and titanium, they are handmade and warrantied for 30 years of use.
Stille instruments for other disciplines
Our wider range of Stille instruments covers plastic/reconstructive surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, orthopaedic surgery, ENT, General surgery and much more.
Designed for exceptional durability, handling, balance and precision, these instruments can provide the surgeon with over 30 years of excellent service.
Superabsorbent T-Mat for Theatre Floors
Available exclusively from Cairn Technology, the T-Mat is thirteen times more absorbent than some inco pads, absorbing up to 8.5 litres of water or 3.5 litres of saline from both sides. Within minutes it gels liquids and becomes dry to the touch, binding the fluid hygienically, for easy non-drip disposal in clinical waste.
DryMax Combimat for Arthroscopies
Ideal for procedures such as arthroscopies, this mat combines a green superabsorbent section with an anti-skid section that can be walked on or have a stool placed on it. The green section can absorb up to 13l of water or 5l of saline and be folded over feet to keep them dry.
Mats for Scrub rooms
The DryMax XL anti-skid absorbent mat absorbs up to 2 litres of fluid per square metre and is ideal for scrub rooms. Available as individual mats or on a 50-metre roll, it can be cut to the preferred size. It is also used in urology, endoscopy, maternity and theatre departments.
Sterile absorbent mats
Our DryMax Sterile mats are ideal for use when a superabsorbent mat needs to be placed against the patient’s skin to absorb fluids and keep them dry. Typical applications include Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts, burns care and reconstructive procedures. Absorbing from both sides, they can be used flat or rolled up, and absorb up to 6 litres of water or 2.4 litres of saline.
Workplace Exposure Monitoring
Sometimes referred to as COSHH or air monitoring, our service helps hospitals make sure that their work environment falls within the recommended workplace exposure limits.
We have delivered our monitoring services to hospitals across the UK for 25 years, including in operating theatre departments, endoscopy suites, endoscope decontamination units, maternity and radiology departments, histopathology and orthotics laboratories and fracture clinics.
In endoscopy departments, our workplace exposure monitoring helps them to achieve and maintain their annual JAG accreditation and prove that they fulfil the IHEEM annual AE(D) audit part 9.6. We can also carry out biological sampling in fracture clinics and prosthetic laboratories to measure staff exposure to Diisocyanates.
Other services include Sterile Services Cleanroom Testing, Bioburden Testing and Face Fit Testing.
Chemical Spill Kits and Training
Our spill kit range has been designed with the input of hospital staff to ensure that spills can be cleared up quickly, safely and efficiently.
Not only does this minimise the risk of exposure to patients and staff, it also ensures that any disruptions are kept to a minimum.
As one of the UK’s leading authorities on chemical spills in hospital environments, we have also delivered comprehensive chemical and cytotoxic spill management training to hundreds of hospitals nationwide. Click here to find out more about our spill training.
Air Purification
With many UK hospitals located in areas where air pollution from vehicles is likely to breach legal limits, our range of Blueair air purifiers can play an important role in minimising the risks of air pollution in reception areas, wards and waiting rooms.
The Blueair’s HEPASilent technology catches 99.97% of particles down to 0.1 microns such as viruses, bacteria and microplastics, while also removing larger particles such as dust, pollen, smoke and pet dander.
