The Enhanced Recovery Partnership Programme (ERPP) has published a new strategy to support the spread of enhanced recovery in the NHS.
The full publication, Fulfilling the potential – A better journey for patients and a better deal for the NHS, launched with NHS Improvement, is now available online from www.improvement.nhs.uk. Commenting on the launch of the new strategy, Professor Monty Mythen, joint national clinical lead for Enhanced Recovery and Consultant in anaesthesia and critical care at UCLH said: “The Enhanced Recovery Partnership is about ensuring quicker recoveries for patients and more efficient use of NHS resources. For example, better intra-operative fluid management, recommended by NICE, has been shown to speed up recovery time following surgery. “We know that commissioners will be considering innovative approaches that will improve outcomes and help deliver local QIPP plans. “We hope that this publication will provide a best practice guide to the benefits of enhanced recovery.”
