Two new training modules focusing on the challenges of sterility maintenance and wet packs within a hospital’s central sterilisation department are now available from Kimberly- Clark Health Care’s Knowledge Network Clinical Education Programme.
The first new module focuses on the benefits of event related sterility maintenance and addresses a number of associated factors that can compromise package sterility. This includes the types of tears in wrapped packages, practices required for event-related sterility maintenance and proper tray handling technique. The second educational programme entitled ‘Wet Packs: Strategies for Prevention and Resolution’ investigates the definition, consequences and causes of ‘wet packs’ and strategies to resolve the problem. The modules are designed as workshops to be delivered on site in hospitals by a member of the Kimberly-Clark team. The workshops are the latest additions to the Knowledge Network, a growing collection of educational resources to help hospitals improve expertise and skills in key clinical areas with the aim of enhancing patient care and infection prevention.
