CE Mark for immobilisation system for cranial cancer treatments

Earlier this year ELEKTA received CE mark clearance for its Fraxion patient-specific cranial immobilisation system. The head frame helps ensure accuracy and precision in stereotactic radiation therapy of cancer targets in the brain and cranium.

It is believed to be the first system to integrate all proven cranial immobilisation options in a single solution. The patient can be immobilised with a thermoplastic mask, or with a vacuum mouthpiece, or a combination of both systems. Precise repositioning is possible with adjustment screws, designed to make it easier to fixate the patient in the treatment room. Combining the thermoplastic mask with the vacuum mouthpiece increases flexibility in setup options, allowing optimal setup based on the patient’s individual needs. Fraxion also features a target positioner, which provides accurate target localisation for stereotactic planning, imaging and treatment.
