Reducing the need for antibiotics

Results from a recent Care Home evaluation of Octenilin Wound Irrigation Solution and Wound Gel, from SCHÜLKE UK, have shown that over 70% of nurses felt that the use of Octenilin reduced the need for antibiotics due to its moist healing environment and good antibacterial activity.

Octenilin Wound Irrigation Solution and Octenilin Wound Gel are now available on the drug tariff, allowing them to be prescribed. Both products contain octenidine – an antimicrobial ingredient which has a broad antimicrobial effect, including multi-resistant strains, and is said to show good skin and mucous membrane tolerability. They can be used to treat burns, pressure sores, leg ulcers and any type of skin wound.
