Reducing sharps injuries

The SHARPSMART reusable sharps collection device has been clinically proven to reduce sharps injuries, while at the same time reducing the sharps plastic waste and associated CO2 emissions (generated from the burning single-use plastic sharps bins).

Inbuilt passive safety features include automatic closure (when full) and hand entry prevention. Sharpsmart’s new Auditsmart process provides ongoing optimisation of sharps management procedures, ensuring that their NHS customers consistently monitor and enhance safety, financial and segregation procedures. The monthly sharps waste review ensures that the Healthcare Facility consistently complies with The Safe Management of Healthcare Waste (HTM-0701) guidelines. Sharpsmart has also recently introduced a stainless steel instrument collection and recycling process that will minimise the waste management costs associated with disposal of the single-use metal devices.
