Flying Start gets off the ground

A team of experts from Napier University has beaten off strong competition from the country’s leading universities to develop a unique online educational programme, Flying Start NHS.

The four member team, from the Faculty of Health & Life Sciences, will prepare Flying Start NHS on behalf of NHS Education for Scotland. The programme will be in place from January 2006 and will help newly-qualified nurses, midwives and allied health professionals become confident, effective members of the NHS team through facilitated shared learning across the professions.

The national one-year programme will provide continued support and development during their first year as a qualified practitioner. Flying Start NHS will ensure that through the link to the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework, it provides practitioners with a worthwhile programme for professional development.
