Effective barrier against bacteria

COVIDIEN Kendall AMD antimicrobial foam dressings are a new range of antimicrobial dressings that can lead to ideal healing environments – while being cost effective and compliant with most existing wound care protocols.

Covidien Kendall AMD antimicrobial foam dressings containing Polyhexamethylene Biguanide (PHMB) provide an ideal healing environment by simultaneously managing moisture and bacteria in the wound. As the foam dressing absorbs exudate, PHMB – a powerful yet safe antiseptic – targets and kills bacteria on contact. Ultimately, a better wound environment leads to better patient outcomes. Covidien has compiled an extensive range of clinical tests and detailed studies to determine the effectiveness of Kendall AMD antimicrobial foam dressings on a variety of wounds and against a variety of bacteria. These have found that the dressings form an effective barrier against a variety of harmful bacteria (including MRSA, VRE and Enterococcus Faecalis) and that the Kendall AMD foam is effective for up to seven days. Moreover, AMD products are both safe and hypoallergenic.
