Local warming aids cannula insertion

The benefits of local therapeutic warming as a physical therapy are well established, and include the reduction of pain, improved perfusion and relaxing of muscles.

Local warming can be particularly beneficial for patients undergoing chemotherapy. SpeedHeat, from INDITHERM, allows the benefits of local warming to be realised in a wide range of clinical situations – including the raising of veins that are hidden, over-used or fragile, prior to the insertion of the cannula. Active local warming that facilitates cannulation leads to a reduction in both the time taken and the number of attempts required. This is more comfortable for the patient and easier for the clinical staff. The device provides assured safety, quality and performance – achieving precise temperature regulation by means of a digital electronic control unit.
