Now available through the NHS Supply Chain, Difficil-S is a broad spectrum disinfectant manufactured by CLINIMAX.
The main difference between Difficil-S and other chlorine-based disinfectants is the main component, chlorine dioxide, which is used in a low dilution rate making it very user-friendly. Difficil-S gives a 5-log reduction within five minutes against MRSA, Clostridium difficile (including spores), norovirus, E. coli, Salmonella, TB, Hepatitis, HIV and other spores and has attained a “Recommendation 2” from the Department of Health Rapid Review Panel. Difficil-S is presented in a two-part sachet form which is added to cold tap water. The solution can be kept in the sealed container for 10 days with no loss of efficacy making it very cost-effective, while the low-bulk sachets can be stored for 30 months. Difficil-S is used on all surfaces including floors, walls, equipment and certain carpets and soft furnishings.
