A wide range of speakers will educate, motivate and inspire an audience of perioperative practitioners at the AfPP Congress. There will be much to learn from – whether it is the moving account of a family tragedy caused by errors in surgery; a warning of the dangers of smoke inhalation in the operating theatre; or an emotive insight into the work of Mercy Ships in Africa, which is saving lives though the kindness of volunteers.
AfPP (the Association for Perioperative Practice) will be host to high profile speakers discussing the hottest topics in perioperative care at its annual Congress and Exhibition, taking place 12-15 October 2009, at Harrogate International Centre, Harrogate, North Yorkshire. The Clinical Services Journal has already reported on some of the show-stopping events at the Congress including: • Gloria Hunniford highlighting the work of the Caron Keating Foundation in the battle against cancer. • Formula One’s RichardWest talking on high octane team performance. • Dame Jacqueline Doherty discussing the journey from nurse to chief executive. • Professor Harold Ellis charting the history of the NHS since he qualified as a surgeon in 1948.
