Delivering effective theatre performance

Operating theatres are the engine of a hospital and effective theatre performance is at the heart of a continuously improving hospital.

The “Effective Theatres” programme is delivered by a partnership of TEREMA, the human factors specialists, and AMNIS, the process transformation organisation. The programme directly tackles the issues that will drive theatre effectiveness including releasing capacity, reducing errors and improving patient safety, coordinating the flow of patients into and out of theatre and improving access to equipment and information. Clinical engagement and improvement science are at the heart of our approach. The “Effective Theatres” programme addresses issues directly relevant to management teams, namely improving utilisation and reducing costs, but without the increase in risk that normally accompanies a unilateral cut in available funding for theatres. The partnership of Amnis and Terema brings together the expertise required to deliver a safe, sustainable and high impact transformation in theatre performance
