360° UV-C decontamination: helping to maintain healthy spaces

Ecolab is launching the latest innovation in infection prevention, with the aim to enhance environmental hygiene protocols and reduce the impact of healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs). The state-of-the-art Illuvi system provides 360° UV-C decontamination to effectively inactivate pathogens that may be missed during manual cleaning – helping to maintain healthy spaces.

Designed and manufactured in the UK by Mackwell Health, the device has been tested to British Standard BS 8628:2022 with proven efficacy against Clostridium difficile, which last year alone affected nearly 17,000 patients.1 Useability is a key focus of the design with additional features including a cable management system and pre-programmed cycles to ensure efficient and consistent use of the device. Its smart system allows healthcare professionals to set up the device within minutes, whilst always ensuring maximum safety with motion sensors to prevent accidental exposure to UV-C radiation.

United by their commitment to sustainability, safety, and infection prevention, Ecolab and Mackwell Health have worked together to develop a system that operates with low energy consumption and without the need for additional consumables. A comprehensive service package has been designed to give customers peace of mind, ensuring the device operates efficiently and safely whilst supporting the circular economy through improved product lifecycle management.

“The new Illuvi UV-C device will enable healthcare organisations to enhance their existing hygiene protocols, with the aim to reduce the impact of healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs),” said Rebecca Sinclair, Area Vice President for Healthcare at Ecolab. “By collaborating with Mackwell Health, we can strengthen our focus on local manufacturing – offering our customers a sustainable solution built within the UK.”

The Illuvi UV-C system is available in the UK and Ireland exclusively with Ecolab. For more information you can contact info.healthcare@ecolab.com.
