Reinsberg Group, the medical technology holding owned by investment firm BHM group, has completed the acquisition of PROTEC, a German developer and manufacturer of X-ray systems. This strategic move strengthens Reinsberg Group's position as a leading European healthcare technology holding while expanding its portfolio with advanced imaging solutions.
Jan Černý, Managing Director of BHM group, commented on the long-term strategy: “Our ambition is to build a European medical equipment powerhouse — a group that shapes the future of healthcare and competes with the world’s best. We actively seek companies with innovative technologies and strong market positions that enhance and expand our portfolio, and we relentlessly pursue avenues to help them grow. We see Reinsberg Group as a future European champion in its field — with the potential to set new standards for innovation and excellence.”
PROTEC, a German company with a long-standing tradition, specialises in the production of premium X-ray systems – from X-ray tables to both analog and digital (DR) devices, as well as specialised software. Its products are used not only in human and veterinary medicine, but also in non-destructive material testing. Thanks to its in-house system design and hardware and software development, as well as international certifications, PROTEC is considered a respected player in the industry.
The acquisition of PROTEC marks another milestone in building a robust medical technology holding. Reinsberg Group already includes several prominent European medical equipment manufacturers, creating ideal conditions for synergy and collaboration.
Dr. Markus Keussen, CEO of Reinsberg Group, emphasized the strategic significance: "X-ray systems represent a key segment of medical equipment. With this acquisition, we are expanding our range of comprehensive X-ray technology solutions for hospitals and clinics. PROTEC not only brings proven products, but also deep technological expertise.”
Synergistic Opportunities
Jan Izák, Associate Partner at BHM group and CFO of Reinsberg Group, added: "Combining PROTEC's X-ray systems with our existing technologies, including AI solutions from the Czech company Carebot in which BHM group holds a significant stake, opens new possibilities in medical imaging. This synergistic cooperation will enhance our global competitiveness."
PROTEC's current management team will remain in place to ensure continuity for customers and business partners. The company will continue operations under its new legal entity, PROTEC X-ray Systems GmbH.
Frank Baisch, Managing Director at PROTEC, shared his perspective on the acquisition: "We are excited to join Reinsberg Group, a strong and stable partner that aligns with our vision for innovation and growth. This partnership will enable us to expand our product portfolio and strengthen our sales footprint, driving strategic growth for PROTEC. With shared expertise and synergies across the group, we see significant potential to enhance our market position and deliver even greater value to our customers."
