Incubator uses Formula One technology

BabyPod II uses the same technology, material and design features that protect Formula One drivers from injury on the track.

Before this solution infants risked injury and heat loss in emergency situations and had nowhere to be placed other than their mother’s arms. The BABYPOD incubator, which is already widely used by air and ground ambulances in the UK, as well as Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, provides a safe and warm environment that keeps children secure should the vehicle be involved in an accident or high speed journeys. Invented for infants from 2 up to 8 kilograms, the Babypod II is claimed to be cheaper, lighter and easier to carry than standard transport incubators and does not require a power source. It provides an oxygen supply for the child and warmth is provided by an exothermic gel mattress that keeps a 38°C temperature for up to two hours.
