ABHI US Accelerator brings UK HealthTech innovators to Texas to strengthen trade opportunities

A delegation of over 10 leading UK HealthTech innovators and Commercial Director from Oxford University Hospitals NHSFT, Jay Mistry, will travel to Texas this week as part of a key trade visit organised by the Association of British HealthTech Industries (ABHI) through its US Accelerator programme.

Taking place from 3-7 March, the visit will bring together UK HealthTech and NHS leaders for a series of meetings, networking events and introductions across Austin, Dallas and Houston to showcase the excellence of the UK’s health technology industry.

Throughout the visit, the participants – presenting some of the UK’s most forward-thinking HealthTech solutions – will engage in meetings with senior leadership teams from renowned hospital systems such Houston Methodist Hospital and Parkland Hospital, as well as key decision-makers from insurance companies, investors, and procurement teams.

Additionally, the delegation will engage with senior representatives from the Texas Medical Center in Houston, the world’s largest healthcare and life sciences complex, which includes internationally recognised institutions such as MD Anderson Cancer Center and Texas Children’s Hospital.

The visit will also feature networking events and working groups, with introductions to various supporting organisations, such as the Chamber of Commerce Dallas and the Austin Healthcare Council.

Paul Benton, Managing Director, International, said: “It is exciting to return to Texas with a delegation of some of the UK’s most notable HealthTech companies. This visit provides unique access to senior leaders across many of the state’s leading hospital systems, key decision-makers, and valuable opportunities for collaboration. We look forward to supporting our companies in exploring new trade partnerships and expanding their reach in this critical market.”

The ABHI US Accelerator, offers nationwide support for UK HealthTech companies. Leveraging their partnership with the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas in Austin and extensive relationships ABHI has built across the US, the programme uses Texas as a springboard for expansion into other key states.

Texas is home to three of the top emerging life sciences clusters in the US – Houston, Austin and Dallas-Fort Worth – along with world-class research institutions like Baylor College of Medicine, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and the University of Texas at Austin. The state’s business-friendly climate and top-tier healthcare facilities further cement its status as a global leader in life sciences.

The week-long mission – exclusive to members of the ABHI US Accelerator – aims to connect participants with senior leaders, clinicians, and procurement teams from the state’s world-class hospital systems, providing essential market insights and access to the right stakeholders.

The cohort will meet with the leadership of Texas Health Resources, who operate, own, or have joint ventures involving over 350 facilities across the State.

Speaking ahead of the visit a spokesperson said: “At Texas Health Resources, we are always looking for innovative solutions to enhance patient care, clinical outcomes, and operational efficiency. Hosting ABHI and the UK health tech delegation again in 2025 allows us to engage in continued shared learning, explore cutting-edge technologies, and identify opportunities for collaboration. By fostering international partnerships, we can work together to drive innovation and improve healthcare delivery for the communities we serve.”

For over eight years, the ABHI US Accelerator programme has helped more than 100 UK HealthTech companies successfully enter and expand in the US market. The programme is designed to reduce the risks of market entry and accelerate growth in the competitive US healthcare landscape.

The 2025 cohort of the ABHI US Accelerator will officially kick-off in April with a 2-day London Bootcamp, welcoming a new group of UK HealthTech innovators. Over the course of the year, participants will visit key healthcare destinations across the US, including new locations such as New Jersey and Arizona, as well as established hotspots like California, Florida, and Washington D.C., offering fresh opportunities to connect with stakeholders and explore potential market collaborations.
