Clinical Entrepreneur Programme invites NHS Scotland innovators to sign up for intro webinar

Scottish healthcare innovators are being encouraged to sign up for a webinar introducing them to the unique NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme (CEP) and its tailored learning benefits aimed at catalysing their ambitions.

Formal NHS Scotland partner InnoScot Health is delighted to be supporting CEP for a third year and is encouraging forward-thinking health service staff and medical students to get involved in the kick-off online session on Thursday 5 September.

Head of Project Management at InnoScot Health, Gillian Henderson says the webinar is “an ideal platform to start learning more about the transformational opportunity that being part of Scotland’s next CEP cohort represents, helping to hone the necessary insight and know-how to successfully develop innovative ideas without having to leave the health service”.

Interested parties – whether experienced entrepreneurs or just starting out – are invited to an “enlightening introductory session tailored specifically for the vibrant community of Scottish healthcare innovators” in advance of the window for applying to the latest cohort opening on 1 October.

The organisers say it is “your opportunity to connect with the minds behind Scotland’s healthcare transformation and to learn how you can apply to the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme (CEP) this October”. You can register to attend here.

Organisers would like to encourage budding Scottish innovators to familiarise themselves with the application process for the entrepreneurial workforce development programme.

Further application-focused webinars are also planned, aimed specifically at ensuring NHS entrepreneurs are fully prepared for the process. Three are in September with a final one in October.

The sessions – delivered via Zoom – all take place from 6-7.30pm and are:
• 9 September – Introduction to the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme
• 18 September – Guide to the application process
• 26 September – Application Q&A session
• 9 October – Application Q&A session

Through a series of educational events and workshops focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship, CEP aims to enhance the development of forward-thinking NHS workers and allow them to discover the innovative startup world of healthcare.

It aims to engage and inspire attendees who are keen to innovate and look for creative solutions amid challenges currently facing healthcare.

Gillian continued: “CEP is truly inspirational for anyone within NHS Scotland who is looking to become an agent of change, and we’re delighted to have the opportunity of again offering our expertise to its ambitious participants.

“It is vital that Scottish health service entrepreneurs are empowered to take their learning to new heights, in turn giving them the knowledge and confidence to make a real difference for the benefit of patients, the public, and the wider NHS.

“Grassroots innovators often have great ideas, but taking them to the next level is difficult in isolation. It can be hard to know where to start if they lack the right network and insight to make it happen. That’s where CEP, the biggest entrepreneurial workforce development programme of its kind, comes in.

“At a challenging time for the NHS, the programme is helping the Scottish healthcare workforce to hone the commercial acumen, skills, and knowledge required to accelerate much-needed breakthroughs, allowing them to look ahead while embracing the opportunities of renewal and transformation.

“Alongside other key partners, InnoScot Health will be aiming to make a valuable contribution to participants’ success by lending our own innovation expertise, helping them to identify channels of support while providing networking and collaboration opportunities. The webinar for Scotland-based participants on 5 September is a great place to start getting involved. We look forward to meeting them.”

Potential participants are encouraged to reach out to the InnoScot Health team if they would like to discuss their CEP eligibility.
