Kanmed baby warmer available from Central Medical Supplies

Central Medical Supplies (CMS) is the sole UK distributor for the Kanmed Baby Warmer, which is clinically proven to help babies from 1000 grams maintain their core temperature and achieve normothermia.

The Kanmed Baby Warmer enables newborn and premature babies to be moved out of an incubator sooner, as it’s designed to allow a gentle warmth transfer from the mattress to the baby.

The Kanmed Baby Warmer is available with a choice of interchangeable mattresses, which include water and gel.  A water mattress is considered to provide the ultimate efficiency, while the gel option offers convenience.  The Baby Warmer control unit is easy to use, with a clear display that shows when the mattress has reached the selected temperature.

The Kanmed Baby Warmer is able to offer non incubator support to neonates at much lower birth weights, with similar outcomes to incubator care. The Cochrane report into cot-nursing versus incubator care for preterm infants concludes that cot-nursing using a heated mattress has similar effects to incubator care with regards to temperature control and weight gain. The Kanmed Baby Warmer is a cost effective solution for hospitals and enables more babies to be cared for, as they can be moved from a traditional incubator much quicker.

Kanmed Baby Warmers are the modern way to care for new and premature babies in medium to low intensive care situations. When used in conjunction with the Kanmed BabyBed, the Kanmed complete warming system has a less clinical look than a traditional incubator, which helps reduce parents’ anxieties and allows them to have physical contact with their baby. This early skin to skin contact is important in parent baby bonding.
