Manage waste medicines: easily, safely, effectively

All Schedule 2, 3 and 4 (Part 1) controlled drugs, as defined by the Misuse of Drugs Act 2001, must be denatured and rendered irretrievable before disposal to protect patients, staff and communities. The Safer Options range of innovative drug denaturing kits helps hospitals, pharmacies, hospices, care homes and other healthcare providers to safely manage waste medicines and comply with this legislation.

Produced in the UK, using locally sourced components Safer Denature is easy to use, with clear instructions on every container. The safe to handle formula, contained in a water-soluble sachet reduces the risk of user contamination. There is a choice of 6 kit volumes from the 250ml size which is ideal for on-ward use to the large to 20L kit for bulk clearances.

Controlled Drug (CD) denature kits are necessarily single use. Compliant disposal by incineration prevents downstream recycling. However, the use of post-consumer recycled plastic for production of the bestselling 250ml CD denature kit containers offers a sustainable solution.

Safer Denature Controlled Drug Destruction kits are available to order on NHS Supply Chain – just search for ‘safer denature’ and buy at: https://my.supplychain.nhs.uk/catalogue or direct from Alpha Laboratories at www.alphalabs.co.uk
