The sad death of the late Queen Elizabeth II on September 8 2022 triggered many protocols, including one which required that Government and arm’s length bodies such as NHS England paused from taking part in events with immediate effect until after the state funeral on 19 September. Trusts and charities, many of whom have Royal patronage, were also required to follow suit.
The HSJ Patient Safety Congress and Awards is heavily made up of Government, Charities and Trusts therefore the event was unable to go ahead as planned on September 15. The Patient Safety Congress programme and content was heavily impacted, with the majority of speakers, both at national and local level no longer being able to participate.
Rescheduling an event of this scale is not straightforward. However, a new date of Monday 24th and Tuesday 25thOctober has just been secured, at the same venue, Manchester Central. The team is aware that this new date coincides with the October half term holidays, however, with the event venue usually booked up to 3 years in advance, this was the only alternative date for the remainder of 2022.
The HSJ Patient Safety Awards will take place on the evening of Monday 24 October - please note that winner information is now embargoed until after the awards ceremony.
Timings for the event will remain the same and can be found here.
