Medical equipment and managed services provider acquired by DWS Infrastructure

Fast-growing market disruptor Althea UK has landed a new backer in DWS infrastructure, forming a key part of the new pan-European healthcare group ‘Inframedica’.

David Rolfe, CEO of Althea UK & Ireland, commented “I am delighted to be joining Inframedica where we can build on the track record we have with a truly excellent team. We are proud to be a customer centric innovator bringing state-of-the-art medical equipment and technology solutions to hospitals across the country.”

As one of the leading independent providers of integrated healthcare technology management, Althea operates as a technological partner for public and private healthcare organisations providing managed services and multi-vendor maintenance across all medical equipment modalities.

In the last years, Althea UK has grown to a £110m business (£45m in 2016), with a reputation for strategic partnerships in imaging, endoscopy and biomedical services.

David added: “The modernisation and efficiency programmes we deliver are all developed in partnership with our customers, whether NHS or private, ultimately for the benefit of the patients. Modern technology and digital systems can deliver a step change in productivity, which we know is urgently needed by the NHS.”

In the UK, the new DWS backed group brings together the track record and expertise of Althea UK with Medipass UK, which includes specialist capability in radiotherapy services and radiotherapy MES.

Future plans include close partnership work with the NHS to expand capacity in imaging, endoscopy and radiotherapy. This often combines modernisation with capacity expansion and the introduction of the latest digital and biomedical technology. Althea is now also pioneering data driven analytics capable of delivering significant efficiencies across hospitals and ICS regions.
