Industry leaders to debate workforce issues

Industry leaders will debate health and social care staff shortages and positive steps for recovery, during a new webinar.

Stress, low pay, long hours and burnout are some of the key factors driving staff out of the NHS – with job vacancies topping 110,000, across NHS Trusts and many thousands more in primary and social care. Connect Health Change’s latest webinar will examine the challenges in the health and social care sector, bringing experts in the field together for: ‘Workforce capacity – solving the supply and demand puzzle’.

Chaired by Paul Allan, Director of Operations at community healthcare services provider, Connect Health, the free session will explore how big the staffing problem really is, what can be done to solve the issues of worker shortages, the antidote for personnel burnout and how to support overstretched teams.

Guest speakers will include David Hare, Chief Executive of the Independent Healthcare Providers Network (IHPN), Ben Wanless, Consultant MSK Physiotherapist, St George’s University Hospitals NHS Trust and Dr Chris Tomlinson, Senior Sports Physician, English Institute of Sport, Lilleshall/Chief Medical Officer British Gymnastics.

Joining them will be Andrew Cuff, Consultant Physiotherapist and Head of MSK, who will focus on the productivity curve and delivering successful group consultations, and Michelle Wayt, Assistant Director of Development and Employment, NHS Employers. Michelle will share lessons learnt from the nursing and midwifery sectors and provide best practice insight for retention and recruitment.

‘Workforce capacity – solving the supply and demand puzzle’ will be held on Wednesday 14 September, 12:30 – 1:45pm. To find out more about the event, see the full itinerary and sign up, visit https://www.connecthealth.co.uk/events/workforce-capacity-solving-the-supply-and-demand-puzzle/
