Insulin link with Alzheimer’s

Researchers at Uppsala University, in Sweden, have found that men who develop diabetes in middle age are more likely to develop Alzheimer’s later in life.

A study of 2,000 men concluded that those with low insulin levels were 1.5 times more at risk, regardless of factors such as blood pressure, body mass index and education levels. Elina Ronnemaa, who published the findings in the Neurology journal, suggested that the damage caused to blood vessels in the brain could be a possible cause.
