US scientists claim to have developed a drug which may protect the body against damage from radiation.
Radiation breakthrough
The drug, known as CBLB502, could make radiotherapy safer for people with cancer or be used in the event of a nuclear disaster. So far it has been tested on animals and appears to help healthy cells survive blasts of radiation. The findings published in Science will now be investigated in clinical trials.
